Description
Print from Janet’s original watercolor, signed and numbered. This Italianate structure was built 1883-84. Image size 12 x 16″. The courthouse is among North Carolina’s finest examples of the Second Empire style. A previous courthouse burned in 1861, but the Reconstruction era economy postponed the construction of a new courthouse until the 1880s. The Craven County Courthouse lies within the boundaries of the New Bern Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
